Gift Card FAQs
What is a gift card and how do they work?
A gift card is issued or sold to a person in exchange for the future supply of goods or services. It can be a physical card or an electronic card.
When you purchase an electronic gift card on our online store, you and your gift card recipient will receive an email that contains an electronic gift card with a unique 16 alphanumeric code that can be used to redeem the gift card's monetary value on our online store or in our retail store.
When you buy an item using your gift card, the total monetary value of the gift card goes down by the amount you spend.
You can use multiple gift cards or a combination of gift cards and other payment method at checkout.
Are there any fees associated with purchasing a physical or electronic gift card?
You are charged the monetary value of the gift card. Tax is charged when a taxable item is purchased with the gift card.
Physical gift cards with a minimum monetary value of $25 can be purchased in our retail store. If you wish to purchase a physical gift card with a monetary value less than $25, you will need to purchase the card for $1.79.
How can I print an electronic gift card to present to someone as a gift?
When you purchase an electronic gift card on our online store, you will receive an email that contains an electronic gift card with a unique code that can be used to redeem the gift card's value on our online store or in our retail store. Click "View gift card balance" to print out the electronic gift card. Please make sure that all the alphanumeric characters of the code are clear and legible.
Do gift cards expire?
Our gift cards have no expiry date.
In British Columbia, gift cards for a specific dollar amount are not allowed to expire and are valid until they are fully redeemed, meaning the full amount is spent and no money is left on it. Gift cards may only have an expiry date if they are issued or sold:
- for a specific good or service such as a massage;
- for charitable purposes; or
- for a marketing, advertising or promotional purpose to a person who provided nothing of value in exchange for the card or who purchased the card for an amount less than its full monetary value.
What is the difference between a gift card and store credit?
Store credit is not the same as a gift card. Store credit is usually issued to you by a business when you return or cancel a non-refundable good or service. If a business gives you store credit (or a voucher that is intended as credit), it does meet the definition of a gift card and can have an expiry date.
Can I exchange my gift card for cash?
Gift Cards are non-refundable. They cannot be redeemed for cash or used as currency to purchase another gift card.
How do I check my gift card balance?
If you received an electronic gift card by email, you can check your gift card balance by clicking the "View gift card balance" link in that email. You can also check your gift card balance on Apple Wallet.
What if I lose my gift card?
A unique code comprising of 16 alphanumeric characters are imprinted on our physical and electronic gift cards. If you purchase a physical gift card, this code is only found on your physical gift card and your receipt. If you purchase an electronic gift card, this code is only emailed to you and your gift recipient.
If you lose your gift card code, we cannot look up the code. SAFEGUARD YOUR GIFT CARD LIKE YOU WOULD CASH.
